Club History (037)

2014, 22 November: the annual meeting of the Club 4000 was held at the headquarters of CAI Turin Monte dei Cappuccini and was presided over by the regent Daniela Formica. After the welcome speech and greetings of the President of CAI Torino Osvaldo Marengo, it has gone to examine the proposal modification of art. 5 and 6 of Regulation Club prepared by the Executive Council.

All 'art. 5 it has been proposed to replace the current phrase "Can join the" CLUB 4000 "Group all members of the Italian Alpine Club etc." with "Can join the" CLUB 4000 "Group, upon acceptance by the Board of Directors, all members of the Italian Alpine Club etc. "

All 'art. 6 it was proposed to replace the current sentence "- list of 4000 risen among those reported in the official UIAA; "With" - list of 4000 risen among those reported in the official UIAA, specifying date, same route, and if necessary, at the request of the Executive Council, the name of the climbing companions; ".

In art.6 same is proposed to replace the current sentence "- any notes. "With" notes; Any submission by the other Club 4000 member or of a CAAI member or the President of the CAI Section of belonging. "

After some discussion regarding a possible photographic documentation of the climbs of prospective members, the Assembly unanimously approved the changes to the regulation proposed by the Executive Council.

The regent Formica then gave the word to Eng. Antonio Engineers, who presented the project of restoration of the Quintino Sella refuge at the White Rochers, already anticipated in the Assembly of the 2013. Under this project, the external protection would be improved without changing the aesthetics, while inside the cabin would remain as it was, keeping the original restored pieces. The operation requires disassembly and subsequent reassembly of the structure is rather complex and, given its location with an external space very small and the objective difficulties of the path of ascent.

With funding from the Val d'Aosta region, the contribution of Banca Sella, the 4000 Club and the Association of High Shipyards Quote, work should be starting in early summer. The news was greeted with great satisfaction on the part of members present; You will still need to open a public subscription to raise the funds still needed for completion of the work.

Another point was the identification of a representative of the Club 4000 within the next Board of Directors of CAI Torino, as Daniela Formica, current representative, ends his second term and is no longer eligible. It was proposed Luigi Costa, who agreed.

Among the communications to shareholders it has been reported that in several refuges of CAI Torino are shown photographs of members of the Club4000 published in previous calendars, as was requested by the CAI Torino itself and made available by the Executive Council.

He was reminded of the appointment as honorary member of the Association Atleti Azzurri d'Olympic and Italian Raffaele Morandini; It was also brought up the prize Marcello Meroni conferred the honorary member Oliviero Bellinzani.

He then took the floor Piero Bianco, who presented the report of the year. The current members are 403, 21 of whom enrolled in; It must unfortunately also record the disappearance of two members, Valter Parodi and Mike Pinney. John Rovedatti led to 33 the number of members who have climbed all "4000", while total were recorded ascents to 198 4000, even along difficult routes.

Finally followed the presentation of the Treasurer on the income statement, essentially in balance, which was approved unanimously.

The assembly was then followed by the traditional social dinner, an opportunity for mutual knowledge among the members.

2013, 27 October, at the headquarters of CAI Turin Monte dei Cappuccini, took place, chaired by Daniela Formica, the Annual Meeting of the Club, followed by a "snack sinoira" which replaced the traditional social dinner.
In opening the meeting the Chairman reminded members died during the year: Giulio Azzaroli, Péter Kiss, the only representative of Hungary, dispersed during the descent from Kangchenjunga, Aldo Bergamini, dropped his companion Roberto Carmagnola on Cresta Rey to Dufour and Carlo Ravetti, fell with Luke Savoy to Cresta Sella to Lyskamm.
The meeting then voted unanimously admission to honorary membership of Oliviero Bellinzani, the left leg amputee mountaineer who with great determination has been able to overcome their disability and has to his credit twenty 4000.
The activity of the year was very intense, as is clear from the reports related to the project "82 365 x", which led to reach 81 "4000" officers 82, with a total of 414 ascents recorded by 81 members. The only tip not climb was the Aig. du Jardin, who as early as July had a terminal can not be overcome, but it is not in the spirit of the Club, nor should it be, excessive risk just to set a record.
New members were 19, bringing the total number to 380.
At the assembly it was presented the calendar 2014, made with photos of members, but without the cooperation of Vivalda Publishers, which has resulted in a significant financial commitment. The Club has also acquired a good number of copies of the book "All 4000" (which will no longer be managed by Vivalda), in order to meet the future demands of members and non-members.
Finally, the President Formica gave a report on the initiative under way for the restoration of the historic hut "Quintino Sella" to Rochers, along the first Italian road to M. White, an initiative that stems not without considerable difficulty.
